About 2-3 months ago I made the step into the 80/10/10 lifestyle from almost a year of high-fat raw vegan and it's been interesting. I still consider myself in transition (stomach capacity, perfecting my buying patterns, etc) and awaiting more of its touted benefits as time goes on. But the thing is, I'm already a believer because it feels right. In my heart, it makes sense to eat whole raw foods that are fresh, ripe, and preferably organic. Stuff that's processed and in packaging just doesn't cut it anymore.
Let's eat things that hydrate and actually uplift our body and excite our taste buds when eaten by themselves. I'm not talking excite in the way that something like MSG, spices/salt do, I'm talking about the unmistakable sensation you get when biting into a fresh juicy orange or mango - or whatever food is tripping your trigger in a particular day. At times, it's just unexplainable how good fruit tastes! I've had cherimoyas or oranges lately that just filled me with delight! The particular tastes that they have are just what I needed to hit the spot.
I'm so thankful to have come into this information during this time in my life and also grateful that I'm finally willing to accept and live it. I'm now a "crazy" by standards of society - even more so than before. It's awesome because I'm healthier and freer! Thinking about about 16 months ago, it's hard to believe I was a completely different eater, devouring anything completely laced with fat, salt, and sugar. I'll get into that in a future post, but just wanted to share some thoughts for now :)
